Greetings, and thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately, due to lack of interest, FTL Travel Co. has been shuttered permanently. I wish that I could say that it may be back someday, but given that I have dumped untold hundreds of dollars into keeping this business afloat for several months and have gotten nothing to show for it, I feel that this is the only course of action.
There were a number of factors leading to the dissolution of the company, and I will lay some of them out here in case anybody even bothers to look at them.
* Zero support from my mentor in the business. I came into this expecting, reasonably or unreasonably, that I would be given a client or two to get my feet wet. Alas. This was not the case. So I spent months trying to find my own, to essentially be told by the few people that seemed even slightly interested that they can get better prices elsewhere.
* Going back to no support, I expressed concerns with the person who was supposed to be my mentor in this business about the fact that, despite trying to drum up business locally by way of putting business cards all around town, word of mouth, etc., that I just couldn’t get any clients. This, only to be told to watch training videos, get on social media, which I absolutely detest, and made to feel as though I’m not good enough to do this line of work. When somebody making six figures a year doing this sort of thing can’t help out new agents in their downline in any way, that smacks of major greed.
* To add further to the previous point, I should have known that this whole gig was a pyramid scheme. The previously mentioned mentor, and all like them with agents under them, get a cut of the profits of the people below them. This is part of how they make six figures annually. They only care about how big your next envelope is, not how you’re actually doing in the business itself, whether you’re struggling, whether you’re having doubts, it’s just hustle hustle hustle. This is not to say that my mentor is a bad person. They aren’t. But the cutthroat nature of the pyramid scheme life just isn’t for me.
* When I deactivated my internal agent site, I got a text message from my mentor almost immediately with a minor guilt trip. This further confirmed that I made the right choice in calling it quits. I explained my reasoning for my actions, which were that I cannot afford to keep paying monthly for resources that I haven’t gotten any use from with zero return, only to be scolded that I didn’t reach out about my financial struggles and that I should have done this, that, or the other thing. It was all bologna. When I reached out to them last, I was made to feel, as previously mentioned, that I just wasn’t good enough. There was no guidance whatsoever from this person, aside from attend training classes and watch training videos.
None of this is to say that, had I been a bit more outgoing, I couldn’t have made this work. I do take partial responsibility, in so far as that people who are looking to travel generally want to get deals and discounts, and frankly, I could never have delivered on those expectations. This was supposed to be a source of income, and I’d have been breaking even at best if I were to have offered much lesser commissions so that friends and family could have gotten places for way less. I, personally, feel like people these days would much rather find their own way so that they wouldn’t have to pay a travel agent for their services. And that’s fine. If they’d rather do it themselves, then good for them. For me, the business model of working exclusively on commission just wasn’t worth all the trouble.
The site will remain active through the beginning of May, when my domain fee comes out, however, this will be the only page available. I can still be reached by email at Info@FTLTravelCo.com if you wish to send a message there. All social media has been deactivated, and so, too, has the phone number that was previously on the contact page.
Thank you for visiting, and may you have luck in finding a travel agent in the future, one that, hopefully, isn’t associated with a pyramid scheme.
